Dr. Jon Boshart to Discuss Catholic Art as Part of Jesuit and Catholic Identity Lecture Series

Dr. Jon Boshart, Chairman of the Fine Arts Department at Saint Peter’s College, will deliver an address entitled Catholic Art: Visual Art with Poetry and Music Correlations as part of the Catholic and Jesuit Identity 2005-2006 Lecture Series on Monday, January 30 from 2-3 p.m. in Pope Lecture Hall. The lecture is free and open to the general public.

 

In his talk, Dr. Boshart will cite examples from Ravenna, Michelangelo and Caravaggio. A faculty member at Saint Peter’s College since 1976, Dr. Boshart was a recent guest on the television show The Word: Alive and Well. The episode, entitled The Saints in Art, examined the depiction of saints in paintings, icons, and sculptures over the past 1,000 years. This episode received a MarCom Gold Award for Excellence in TV/Cable broadcasting.
