SPC TO HOST A GREEN JOBS CONFERENCE

Saint Peter’s College will host A Green Jobs Conference: Making Money While Protecting Your Environment on Wednesday, April 25 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. in McIntyre. The conference features five speakers who will examine different aspects of the “green” movement in the economy and higher education.
Carol Ann Brodie, Ph.D., advisory council member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education, will deliver the keynote address at 10:10 a.m.
A panel discussion entitled Perspectives on Sustainability in Science, Business and Philosophy, will take place from 11- 1 p.m.The speakers include:
- John Cusack, executive director of the New Jersey Higher Education Partnership in Sustainability (NJHEPS), will discuss The Existential Threat of Climate Change.
- Angeline Kung of Goldman, Sachs & Co., will speak on The Evolving Role of the Large Financial Corporation Toward Sustainability.She is an associate in the executive office division and focuses on the firm’s environmental policy and center for environmental markets.
- Rabbi Lawrence Troster, Rabbinic Scholar of GreenFaith, will deliver an address entitled Citizens of the Land: A New Approach to Save the Planet.GreenFaith is a New Jersey-based organization founded in 1992.The group is an interfaith coalition dedicated to environmental advocacy.
- Josh Dorfman, founder and chief executive officer of Vivavi Companies and host of the Sirius Satellite program, The Lazy Environmentalist, will speak on Sustainability and Style as a Core Business Strategy.Dorfman has appeared on National Public Radio and other media outlets.In 2006, Inc. Magazine named Vivavi one of the 50 most intriguing companies driving the green revolution.
The event, cosponsored by NJHEPS and Saint Peter’s College, is free and open to the general public.A question and answer session will follow the panel discussion.
