Arthur Youmans has been appointed the next Director of Public Safety. Mr. Youmans has an extensive and distinguished background in law enforcement. He was an officer of the Jersey City Police Department from 1973 through 2002 where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant. He is currently serving as director of security of a private company where he has initiated security technology improvements.

Mr. Youmans, a former Sergeant in the US Army Reserve, has received numerous commendations for excellent police service. During the course of his career, he has undertaken specialized training in a variety of areas of law enforcement including critical incident response, internal investigation and criminal investigation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Public Safety from William Patterson University.

Among his first tasks at Saint Peter’s College will be carrying out the technology improvement program that was facilitated by a federal grant of nearly $1 million and implementing a risk assessment program.
