About the Speakers

Terry Finley

Terry Finley is the president & CEO of West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc., the largest thoroughbred partnership company in the world. He’s grown the company from one investor and one claiming horse in 1991 to over 525 investors and more than 80 horses today. The stable celebrated its 100th stakes win in February 2018.

West Point Thoroughbreds was a minority owner of the 2017 Kentucky Derby winner Always Dreaming and also campaigned 2014 Kentucky Derby runner-up Commanding Curve.

 
Finley graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1986, earned an M.S.B.A. in business administration from Boston University in 1989 and completed the OPM Executive Course at Harvard Business School in 2014.
 
Finley serves on numerous boards including the New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, the Thoroughbred Charities of America, the PenFed Foundation and the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, which provides scholarships to children of our nation’s fallen military members.
 
Finley lives in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. with his wife of 32 years and business partner, Debbie. His daughter Erin is an accomplished equestrian, as well as West Point’s racing manager and director of communications. His son Ryan, a 2013 Notre Dame graduate, was a first-team All-American soccer player for the Irish and the ninth pick overall in the 2013 Major League Soccer draft. In 2017, Ryan finished up five years of playing professional soccer and now works on Wall Street.

 

Jim Conti '93

Jim is managing director at Goldman Sachs and a senior sales leader within the Prime Brokerage Hedge Fund Demand Team. The Demand Team maintains sales trading relationships with hedge fund clients on the Prime Brokerage Securities Lending desk. He first joined Goldman Sachs in 1984 as an analyst.  He was named managing director in 2008.

Jim rejoined the firm in 2004 after 7 years away working at 2 other firms.  Jim worked at Deutsche Bank Securities and UBS Securities in various senior management capacities within the Equity Finance groups at both companies.

 
Jim is a member of Saint Peter's University's Board of Trustees and works with the University's career center, helping advise current Saint Peter’s students.
 
Jim earned a B.S. in computer science from Saint Peter’s University (formerly College).
